Family life is a complex network of relationships and stresses. The Christian family is a core element of the Christian community. We learn to be Christian by witness rather than learning facts. How we learn to be community is influenced by the relationships we experience as family.
As part of the rite of Baptism the presider says:
"You have asked to have your child baptized. In doing so you are accepting the responsibility of training them in the practice of the faith. It will be your duty to bring them up to keep God’s commandments as Christ taught us, by loving God and our neighbour. Do you clearly understand what you are undertaking?"
